En-route ATFM delay per flight
EUROCONTROL areaTotal en-route delay by reported ATFM delay cause
EUROCONTROL areaBetween January and September 2019, total en-route ATFM delays in the EUROCONTROL area decreased by 10.2% compared to the same period in 2018.
As a result, average en-route ATFM delay per flight decreased from 2.02 in 2018 to 1.79 in 2019.
Compared to the first half of 2018, the decrease is mainly due to less adverse weather and less strikes.
Delays attributed to ATC Capacity and Staffing continued to increase compared to the same period in 2018.
Delays attributed to ATC Capacity and Staffing continued to increase compared to the same period in 2018.
Share of controlled flights delayed by en-route ATFM regulations (%)
Although the average en-route ATFM delay per flight decreased, the share of en-route ATFM delayed flights increased further (+0.4 percent points)
to reach 11.1% in the EUROCONTROL area (vs. 10.7% in 2018).
En-route ATFM delay by ANSP
2019In the first three quarters of 2019, average en-route delay per flight was highest in HungaroControl (2.05 min) followed by Austro Control/ Austria (1.97 min),
DFS/Germany (1.65 min) and skeyes/Belgium (1.16 min).
Horizontal en-route flight efficiency
The efficiency of actual trajectories decreased slightly to 97.2% in the first nine months of 2019
while the efficiency in the filed flight plans remained unchanged at 95.6%.
